I was born and raised in a tiny town called Elyria,It is about 25 miles southwest of Cleveland.Pretty normal life and not much to tell, that is until I was hit by the U2 bus when I was around 11 or so . The first time I saw them on Mtv I actually didn't care for them, but then I saw RED ROCKS ,and everything changed. I started buying casettes and vinyl .First came all the standard releases and then the singles .J.T. came out and it was time to see them LIVE .Down to Cleveland stadium we went , here comes Streets The entire place bouncing in unison to that driving bassline of Adam Clayton.I was done for ,Hooked for life all I wanted was more and more U2 ,I could not get enough.R&H came and went and still it wasn't enough.ACHTUNG YALL holy crap , what in the hell is this .At this point in my life I was also in my first band ,playing drums.I had taught myself to play by listening to Larry and Phil Collins.we stuck to originals and REM , our singer at the time couldn't handle the Bono.This band lasted until I was done with high school,I was off to college on a scholarship,Columbus College of Art And Design. I WAS a very creative soul before that experience. now it is gone , sucked right out of my soul. I get flikers of it now and then but for the most part it is gone. After I f@#$ up the whole scholarship thing it was back home and to work High School educated and almost no skills , first came roofing then carpet installing then a job at the local newspaper in the mailroom.Somewhere in there I got hooked up with another band and once again played drums .I also began to sing here .This was weired becuse I was a drummer , I hid behind everyone and made loud noises. I had to learn to get some damn confidence in myself.I did this band for a couple of years and then done ,on to the next one a new band a new line up and realy bad influences.U2 has lasted because they somehaow managed to pull away from all the bull that comes with the music .my friends couldn't do that ,so I went off and got married ,time to be an adult .I married above my class . man o man this girl was way out of my league. Her name is heather and I still can't believe that she married me. 11 years and 3 kids later and we are still going strong .U2 is a big part of all of my families lives All of us love them and looke forward to every new song or release |
