I disagree with some of your post there. Yes, Coldplay are different, but in the good way. Sure, chris loves u2, and I would guarentee if he knew about this site he would join.
You have I-hate-coldplay-bc-they-copy-u2itis.
First, everybody wants u2's career. 22 Grammys speaks for itself. Being the richest band in the world looks good.
Second, Coldplay started in the late 1990s. Their job is create enjoyable music, to theory. U2 have a huge influence in it, which seems awesome to think someone out there in the mainstream loves u2 as much as we do.
Third, coldplay have never plagarized u2. They plagarized radiohead.
Forth, as a singer, having a falsetto is a gift. As a guy, having a falsetto is a gift. I wish mine would come back (damn post nasal drip...)
Fifth, viva is a great album. Already one of my favs, and I'm very picky about what albums make my top 20.
Sixth, Death and All His Friends is the best song off that album. 3rd best epic song IMO behind WGFA and ATTTID. U2 songs are epic, but everyone has their own tastes here. Kite is 4th btw...
Seventh, they are great live. I saw them august 4th at the garden, really good show they put on. Don't let the studio stuff fool you. Have a listen to Brixton and lose yourself
When did I say anything about Coldplay copying U2? Did you actually read my post? I didn't say anything about some of the things you mentioned, so whatever. It is all down to opinion, but I don't like coldplay that much. Maybe once in a while in a movie or something as background music, but I won't choose to listen to them or put them on MY ipod. They get on my nerves, but that doesn't have anything to do with them being influences by U2.
They're just different, and they're stuff is repetitive and Chris Martin is just annoying with that Falsetto of his. Who does he think he is? Timerlake? (just kidding)
Erm, any band that finds the formula/style as to how they create their music can be pointed to as repetitive. Dare I be so bold, U2 are repetitive - most of their music follows a format, e.g. 2 verses, 2 choruses, middle 8, chorus, coda etc.; Adam's basslines often form the basis of a song's musical structure with root notes and so on, whilst more often that not, Edge's guitarwork incorporates similar elements. It's not a crime to be formulaic or repetitive, that's music. Give me formula over freeform jazz anyday lol...
If U2 comes out with their new album this year, it will blow every other album that's come out among the popular music scene out of the water. No band or artist that teens like now days (Coldplay is one of them) can compete with any band that was out before like 1995. Most people suck now days. There are some exceptions, but still. Nothing will ever come close to classic bands. Thats why I don't listen to the Top 40 or watch Much Music or MTV or anything like that.
I don't mean to play Devil's Advocate but who's to say U2's next album isn't just going to be another standard U2 album? I wish people would stop making big sweeping statements lol, because that's how Sod's Law came into being!
Sure, chris loves u2, and I would guarentee if he knew about this site he would join.
Not being funny dude, but why do you guarentee everything lol? It always sounds as if you have the inside track on something, and know something we don't

Erm...everyone has the capacity to sing in falsetto; in my opinion singing in key is more of a challenge. The thing is refining the falsetto and being comfortable singing it. I sing, but rarely (almost never) in genuine falsetto, as I don't sing from the back of my throat á la Pearl Jam etc., because it's genuinely uncomfortable. That I don't sing in such a style doesn't mean I don't have it lol. Hell, James Hetfield has the capability to sing in falsetto, but I can't say I've ever heard him sing in such a voice lol...
To be honest, the main reason I'm looking forward to the new album is the subsequent tour and my chance to see them live for the first time. These bootlegs just fuel my impatience.

I have to say, I heartily agree, although it's not obviously the only reason - I'm just dying to hear some new U2 material and seeing a bit of justified media-hype. The only album I've had any interest in recently that's lived up to its pre-release billing has been Viva La Vida...

Chris appeared on the Who's VH1 program.....the Who being one of U2's big influences as an early band. Plus he also mentioned something about ASOH being one of his favorite songs. I wish I had the inside scoop lol, but I get a vibe that he likes U2 a lot.
True....when you said in key thats what i meant, it just wasn't said lol.

ok....so we'll agree to disagree?
and don't say Chris Martin sucks....it offends me as a coldplay fan
