My 3rd U2 show attendance...and the boys did not disappoint! The fact that its 40 years in their career and 30 years since the original Joshua Tree release is mind blowing alone but to have witnessed the band preform every song down to a T was phenomenal.
Can't talk about sound quality since a boot has yet to surface. But I can say the show was LOUD in person.
Unlike the last tour, I was at the seats and everyone was on their feet, jumping, dancing, waving their hands in the air, smartphone lights and singing along to every word. Excitement in the air. My poor friend had to keep moving aside to let people go in and out in our row. As well as a small misunderstanding over me blocking the screen view of a fan behind me. Despite those small mishaps, the boys lifted our spirits and the audience joined along.
Apart from a small audience mishap or two, this show was simply amazing! To have witnessed U2s most famous album in person and its entirety was a fantastic privilege to be a part of. A far superior show to me than my very first one in NY June 23 during the IE Tour in nearly every aspect: crowd participation, simple effectiveness of the stage, the JT songs, the band's energy, set list.
- The band
-The Joshua Tree album live and in person
-Set List (One where I thought was gonna be a tad jumble mess, lacking sequential flow like the 6/23 IE show. But once again, no disappointment. Complete flow from SBS to One. It seemed like a festival-esque setlist in vein of Metallica's Orion Festival set lists, except U2's shows are their own festival per se. Anyways, great set list...except for one thing in the Cons)
-No ASOHC (I really thought they were gonna play this one but guess they didn't. Too bad.)
That's about it! Can't say anymore. Thank You U2 for a special night! See you next show/tour!

Show Notes: My first time seeing U2 since 2010 (the last time they toured Australia) - I had planned a US holiday for June and made sure I would be in New York for this as I couldn't miss it (plenty of recordings of other artists from my travels also forthcoming), and they didn't disappoint. It was a beautiful warm night in New Jersey, and well worth the hassle of getting to the stadium from Manhattan (take the bus is my advice, and go early, and run to the bus pick area after to avoid waiting a long time for the ride home). The gigantic 4K video screen was incredible and used to great effect, and the band is in great form. While the setlists haven't varied a lot on this tour, it was fun to get Mysterious Ways - here's hoping for an Achtung Baby full album show in 5 years time!
Recording Notes: Sounds pretty good I think, the recording actually sounds better than it did from my seat. I was unable to score floor tickets, so had to make do with a seat, which while good for my legs, unfortunately affected the quality of the sound, as it sounded quite muddy and distorted at times, which comes from being in seats at a sports stadium, however I've done my best with this recording and it sounds decent enough (not quite as good as taper Larryrulz's recording of night 1, but I don't think it's miles behind). If anything Bono's vocals sounds a little distorted at times, but it's not so off putting you can't listen to it. The only really annoying crowd talking came during Running To Stand Still - I had an aisle seat, and out of nowhere a bunch of women came and stood right behind me on the steps and proceeded to have a loud conversation, right on cue during the quietest song! i tried to give them the evil eye, but they were too engrossed in themselves to care. Eventually they moved on, so they only ruined a few minutes. Otherwise I hope you will enjoy listening to this recording!

"You preach what you need to hear. You sing your life, and you want it to count, I suppose. I'm hoping people are tired of singers whose mouths are filled with words that were written for them and they don't believe. Their arms and legs move in directions that other people choreograph."
- Bono, 2000, Rolling Stone
On tour in Australia in the autumn of '89 Larry had told Bono that if this is what it meant for U2 to be superstars, he didn't like it. It was one of the reasons for the musical and artistic revolution in the nineties.
